Robotic FUE (ARTAS) Hair Transplant in Fairfield, CT
Connecticut’s First ARTAS Practice. Physician-Performed. No Linear Scar.
The Center for Hair Transplantation was the first practice in New England to offer ARTAS robotic FUE. Dr. Ivan Cohen personally performs your procedure, bringing more than 30 years of exclusive hair-restoration experience and board certification from the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. For patients seeking permanent results without a linear scar, the Center for Hair Transplantation offers a trusted, physician-led option.
What ARTAS Robotic
FUE Gives You
-
No linear scar.
The ARTAS system extracts individual follicles through tiny circular punches, eliminating the need to remove a strip of scalp. This allows you to wear your hair short without a noticeable linear scar.
-
Robotic graft selection.
The ARTAS imaging system utilizes high-definition cameras that digitally map the donor area for optimal graft selection. Before extraction begins.
-
Physician-led from start to finish.
Dr. Ivan Cohen consults with you, designs your hairline, and personally performs your procedure.
-
Natural growth direction.
Each follicle is placed at the correct angle and density to match your existing hair.
-
Faster donor healing.
Without a strip incision, your donor area heals in days rather than weeks.
-
Permanent results.
Transplanted follicles establish permanently and grow for life.
Why Choose Center for Hair Transplantation for ARTAS Robotic FUE
The Center for Hair Transplantation has been a leader in hair restoration for more than 30 years. As the first practice in New England to introduce the ARTAS robotic FUE system, we have performed over more than 10,000 hair transplant procedures, more than any other practice in Connecticut. Dr. Ivan Cohen has more ARTAS robotic FUE experience than any other physician in New England, and our practice is dedicated exclusively to hair restoration. (include all three physicians)
Our Physicians perform every procedure, and their expertise is recognized beyond the practice. All three of our doctors hold faculty appointments at Yale, and Yale dermatology residents observe procedures here as part of their training. We also take a long-term approach to treatment, designing hairlines that will continue to look natural as your hair changes over the years, not just immediately after surgery.
Our ARTAS Robotic
FUE Process
Successful hair restoration depends on more than robotic technology. Our process combines ARTAS precision with physician expertise at every stage of treatment.
-
Step1
Step 1: Consultation & Hairline Design
What HappensDr. Cohen evaluates your donor density, hair loss pattern, and long-term hair restoration goals. He designs a natural-looking hairline, estimates your graft count, and provides transparent pricing before treatment.
-
Step2
Step 2: Robotic Extraction
What HappensThe ARTAS system maps your donor area and identifies optimal follicles. Its robotic arm extracts each graft individually using precision circular punches without removing a strip of scalp.
-
Step3
Step 3: Physician-Directed Placement
What HappensAfter extraction, Dr. Cohen’s team places each graft by hand. The angle, depth, and spacing of every graft are carefully controlled to create a natural-looking result.
-
Step4
Step 4: Recovery & Growth
What HappensRecovery milestones include returning to desk work in 2–3 days, donor area healing in 5–7 days, first new hair growth in 3–4 months, visible density improvement around 6 months, and full results in 12–18 months.
How We Protect Your Result
Protecting your result starts before the procedure. Here’s how we approach each decision with your long-term outcome in mind.
-
Approach
Honest candidacy assessment
What It Means for YouIf ARTAS is not right for your donor area or case size, we tell you and discuss alternatives.
-
Approach
Future-forward hairline design
What It Means for YouWe consider how your hair loss may progress before finalizing your hairline design.
-
Approach
Donor area preservation
What It Means for YouWe limit extraction to a safe density to help preserve your long-term donor supply and coverage.
-
Approach
Placement by hand
What It Means for YouARTAS handles precision harvesting while your physician performs placement, where clinical judgment and technique shape the final result.
Key Things to Know Before Your Procedure
-
1
ARTAS automates extraction, not placement.
Some practices automate both steps. We do not. Automated placement eliminates the customization your result depends on.
-
2
The donor area requires shaving.
ARTAS requires a shaved donor area on the day of the procedure. If you prefer not to shave, ask about our manual FUE option during your consultation; it achieves the same scar-free result.
-
3
Your 6-month result is not your final result.
Growth continues for 18 months. Density keeps improving throughout that window.
-
4
Board certification matters, and not all certifications are equivalent.
Dr. Cohen holds certification from the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS), a credential specific to hair restoration surgery. General plastic surgery or dermatology board certification does not carry the same specialization.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
ARTAS leaves tiny circular punch marks in the donor area, each no larger than a dot. They heal fully and become invisible. There is no linear scar, even at very short hair lengths.
-
Your physician will lead your consultation and perform your procedure. We do not delegate extraction or graft placement to unsupervised technicians.
-
We use local anesthesia. You will feel pressure during the injection. Extraction and placement cause no pain. Most patients watch their favorite shows or listen to music throughout the procedure.
-
Your graft count, based on your coverage needs and donor supply, drives your final cost. Dr. Cohen determines your graft count at your consultation and provides clear pricing before you decide anything.
-
Yes. ARTAS leaves no linear scar at the back of your head. You can cut your hair as short as you want.
